we did it!!

There are at least two things that come to mind and they are big for us. Let me just pick one to start with...

1. We finally put some money down to hold a 1 acre lot in Aledo! C made it out alive and never passed out. I was so proud of him. We feel like we are getting a really good deal based on all the looking we have done within the past 2 years. Let me clarify that we have not purchased the lot yet. To get the screamin deal, we have to close by June 30th. Which means we have some work to do on our own. Our dream home that we had plans made on back when I was pregnant with A is way too big. The first time Andy, the architect, drew them up the house was over 4,000 sq. ft. Insane! We made several cut backs and were able to get it down around 3600 sq. ft. Now, with the high cost of materials and just because we still don't need a house that big we want to slim it down a bit more. We've got to get that done and the plans final so C can bid it out and close on the lot by June 30th. We'll see if we make it. I'm thinking that we will. We are ready to be out of our ever expanding area around us.

2. We FINALLY decided on a top boy and girl name! It only took us 39 weeks and 2 days to do it, but we did. For those of you that have asked, you know how indecisive we have been. Anything I like, he doesn't and vice versa. Today, C just made an executive decision and I fired myself from name picking. Although, I came up with the girl's middle name to settle it once and for all. And since we've waited this long, I don't think I will share them just yet. With us, we could still change our minds. We've changed them way too many times already, but I think these 2 are it. Stay tuned to see what happens.

39 and holdin?

Yes my friends, still no baby! I apologize for not posting yesterday, but I've been really tied up with trying to finish out school a week early. I've pulled some long nights this week to try and get things done, but teaching is much like being a mother. There is always something to do and when you close one door, another opens. I don't think I've ever heard a teacher say I have all my grades done, all paperwork is caught up and I have nothing to grade...think I'll go sip margaritas by the pool. I know my teacher friends say we are going to do better next 6 weeks, but it never happens.

The doc said "still a 2!" da-da-dum-dum! Friday the 29th I will be 39 weeks, still a 2 and not thinned enough to even give it a percent. Some have asked what I did with the other two? Well, with B, I was effacing (spelling of that?) a lot (I think I got to 80 or 90%), but I stayed a 1 cm for 4 weeks. Until I went to my 40 week check up and I was leaking amniotic fluid. She booked me that day and I had him at 6:45 that night. With A...I think my effacing was a little slower (60-70%), but I am certain I dilated to a 2. At that 39 week check up she asked if I wanted to induce and I thought "why the hell not?" So, the point being that none of the 3 have been similar at all. However, this week when she asked if I wanted to induce I said no. I'm sure some or most think I am crazy, but I just couldn't schedule the birth of this child. I have way too much going on right now with work. Plus I am looking forward to a few days off next week of peace and quiet. This way if my water breaks (yea, right) at home, at least I'll be ready to go. Also, next week Tuesday is B's cavity removal party with the dentist. I want to be able to be there for him and make sure he is well taken care of before I have the baby.

I am back at the doctor next week Wednesday at 9 AM. We'll see what happens then.

8 more centimeters to go!

Everything went great at the doctor's appointment today. I can add one more centimeter, but there of course is absolutely no reason for bed rest. I never thought I'd want that, but WOW it's harder than I thought being this far along with 21 8 and 9 year olds...and one of them counts as 3 kids, promise. I will go back next week on Tuesday to see if there is anymore action. The baby is surely moving all the time. I know he or she is seriously starting to run out of room. This little person is letting me know that at night. I am to that point where it's hard to make it a full night's rest without any interruptions. Here lately B&A have been randomly coming in our room at night for different reasons and then I cannot go back to sleep. I know it's all God's way to prepare for my sleepless daze I am headed for this summer.

You will be happy to know that we do have a list of name's now! YEAH for us. We pretty much made each other sit down Sunday and come up with something. Now that we have a few first names, we gotta think of middle names....hopefully we will get this all figured out before the birthday, but if we don't i'm sure something will come to us.

My Mother's Day was great. We spent Saturday at the farm. There is one more horse out there now, Dolly. Jason rode Dolly all around, but Chris stayed away. He still recovering from the bucking he took from Chip. The kids had a lot of fun playing with their cousin and getting dirty. And they rode the horses all over the place...more like an adult lead them around all over the place. Sunday we layed really low at home. It was great. I didn't wash one dish nor do one load of laundry! Then, we went to dinner that night with the kids. Overall it was a great day! I do have a picture of me and the kids, but I haven't loaded them to the computer. I'll get something posted soon.

Till next week...

36 week check up

Nothing new at this "first time to be checked" appointment. As with the other 2 pregnancies, I am dilated to "about a 1 cm and still pretty thick." you mommas know what I'm talking about. i was hoping for some excitement and maybe some extra rest needed and some take it easy on yourself. Not gonna happen this week. I will be there once again next Wednesday.

Today I stayed home with my favorite little girl. On Tuesday she started running fever, so I picked her up. She seemed fine. I called the doctor to speak to a nurse about what to do since its the swine flu scare up here. The nurse said to wait for more symptoms to develop. Today, that is what I did. I got nothing. She just sounds really hoarse. Early this morning she had a tad of wheezing in her chest, but we never heard it again until...you guessed it, about 5:30 tonight. And she started running fever again. Hmm...well see how the night goes.

first dentist visit

Today I took the AM off to take B to his first dentist visit. I was going to take him last year for his 3rd birthday. However, I relied on another friend that took her 3 year old and she said it was a waste of the appointment. They didn't do anything and pretty much said we'll see him at 4. So, since she tried it out at 3 I thought we were safe to just wait. Well, I was wrong. A while back (several months) ago while brushing B's teeth I noticed a small spot. Eventually I mentioned it to C, but we didn't think anything. Then, I started saying...I think we need to find a dentist, I think it's a cavity. Well, as the year has progressed this small spot is now much larger. My goal was to get him in before the baby comes. Today, I met my goal.

I talked it up to him so he would know what to expect. Part of the reason I decided on the office I did was because of the decor. It is all in jungle theme--lots of zebras, tigers, lions, etc. which is right up his ally. I just wanted him to be comfortable. During dental month at his school, they had a dentist come talk to the kids about brushing and candy....so he was a little familiar with it. I told him how she was going to look for any monkeys or lions in his mouth and would need him to open really big. He looked up at me with his big bright eyes and said "i think she will find alex the lion and master tigress." my response "oh yes, i think she might." he was excited and ready to go.

we get there and he's still excited. he loved the waiting room...very kid friendly. video games that we played and jungle animals all on the walls and furniture. we went back for x-rays--didn't even think about those. he did great. he cooperated the whole time. then it was time to get in the chair. dentist offices seem to be so different than what i remember growing up. it is all an open concept. anyway, he lays in the chair and the nurse prepared him for what the dentist, or Dr. Mac (that is what she prefers to be called) is about to do. Dr. Mac looks him over and then shows me the x-ray on the "possible" cavity, which it's an "x-ray" on a computer. She said "good thing you brought him in. does he complain about this tooth?" me-"no, not really. that's why I wanted to make sure we weren't missing something." Dr. Mac "well, you see this bubble looking thing from the bottom?" me--"yes" her--"thats the nerve of that tooth" me--"i see" her--"you see this other bubble looking thing that is almost touching the nerve that is coming down from the top?" me--(thinking holy cow)"yes." her--"well thats the cavity. it is almost touching the nerve. i may not be able to save this tooth. and this could turn into a possible root canal" as christy would say..."Shut the front door!" Is she serious? a root canal on my almost 4 year old? Then, I proceeded to give myself the Mother of the Year Award. Then they say "so do you want a clear or silver crown?" me--thinking 'hold on a minute people, let me digest this' this is just not what i expected to hear at all.

in conclusion, he has to go back (duh). he will be slightly sedated since she nearly has to gut that tooth. she is going to try and save as much of it as she can and then do a filling. if it is too much to fill once she cleans it out, we have to cap it. don't worry, he will be getting a gold cap with a dollar sign on it. :) since he will be sedated, they will go ahead and do a cleaning at the same time. he cannot return to any activity for the rest of the day once it is over. the best appointment they had for us was June 2, a Tuesday at 7:30 AM. he cannot have anything to eat or drink after midnight and then cannot eat 2 hours after the procedure. so i will have one hungry little man on my hands. this is all in hopes that I have not had the baby early or if i did, chris will have to take him to the appointment.

Basically, i feel like all of this just because Daddy and Me procrastinated! Never again. I am already trying to figure out when I can get A in there too. And I've found that what a dentist does with your toddler is up to the office that you take them too. This dentist said she likes to see all of her patients around their first birthday! wow, so i really look like a loser parent taking my near 4 year old in there. Oh well.

And to top it off...they give him a goody bag while i am making all of these gold cap decisions...it has the toothbrush he brushed with while we were there, a rhino tattoo, sticker and a sugar free sucker. he's a smart kid and wants the candy. i open it up and as Dr. Mac is explaining stuff to me, she stops and looks at B. he is crunching into the sucker and chewing it up. Then she says "see this, he cannot do this. that is terrible for his teeth. it defeats the purpose of a sugar free sucker. if he ate it right, by sucking on it, it would cause the mouth to salivate which in turn helps fight cavities. plus, if he gets a filling he cannot do that." i'm thinking 'yikes!' to be honest, i've never really thought about how he eats candy or any food. but she is right. i'm glad she told me straight up, so we gotta change some ways around here. she said no sticky candy--skittles (B&A's faves), taffy ('nother fave), jolly ranchers or hard candy they can bite into...

overall, brady loved it and can't wait to go back. LOL. he loves his new toothbrush and all the special treatment he received this morning. for me, all i can say is i reached the goal of getting him to a dentist. cheers.

To pump or not to pump...

Yes, I am going to do my best to pump for this little baby. However, this will be my first time to pump AND work full time. Any advice out there on how to handle this with my principal/district to make sure I am legally allotted the time I need? I found one law, but was curious how other teachers have handled this situation.
Thanks for any advice.
