Showering of gifts among other things

As Maria would say, I have been too "perky" this week. Que es?...I think this is my 3rd blog entry for one week! Impressive! Actually I am blogging instead of doing stuff in the nursery and writing thank you notes.

My school shower was on Thursday afternoon. We had a great time. We received some great gifts to get us started with the new baby! Thank you to all!! I've included some pictures of me and my crazy team. We are one strong group of women. We don't like to take no for an answer, we want to do what is best for our kids and we love to laugh! I have to say this is the best group of girls I have ever been blessed to work with. We just have so much fun together. It saddens me to think that Jennifer will be leaving us due to number cuts next year. It will be very different without her there! I am truly thankful for the opportunity to teach with these 5 bright and beautiful girls.

After the shower I went home to a cool house and thought we were good with the AC. But by 9 pm, it was bad news bears all over again. It wasn't cooling anymore and we just turned it off for fear of burning something up. Then, Friday afternoon a tech came back over to the house. This time I was there and once he checked it all out, the compressor unit had gone out. All I wanted to know was "does this mean another night of no AC?" sadly the answer was yes. I am just thankful that it is not July or August and 100 degrees outside. We were forced with a big decision...replace the compressor for a small grand or replace the whole shebang for 3 small grand--give or take a few hundred. I had to jet off to my hair appointment and left Chris to make the decision. Funny--we were just in these shoes in March with our refrigerator. Which we had to replace the entire thing! So, for other reasons we decided to go ahead and replace the entire AC unit. The past 4 years we've had trouble with it during the summer and why not upgrade now to try and save a little more on our electricity bills? Another bonus with replacing it was that it was installed today!!! I am happy to report that it is now running and cooling down the house. I don't have to sleep with a wet head to stay cool tonight!

Did you register?

Why yes, I did. My wonderful new school is having a shower for us. I am not having any other showers this time around. If I did anything, I would have a dinner food drive or restaurant gift card drive or a diaper drive for us. But hey, it's the 3rd! we've got just about everything we need. However, I did go ahead and tag a few things at your local Target and Babies R Us. All of the bedding and nursery stuff is from IKEA. It's a bedding group called Barnslig. It's what I did B&A's room in, but for a nursery. It's reds, oranges, yellows and greens. Once I have the baby, I'd like to get the rug--either in red with pink polka dots or the blue with green ones. Plus, the blankets and a few other things are gender specific colors. If I were on the ball, I'd insert a cute pic of the nursery here...not going to happen my friends. I have everything in the nursery, still in the package and the door is closed and locked to keep A out! I tried to get motivated this past Sunday, but I stopped. I'll try again this weekend. Maybe I'll post a picture?

Hot and pregnant!

Today was my 34 week check up. Usually my appointments are taking a good while and I'm picking the kids up really late. So today, I left a little earlier and picked them up to take with me. I thought this could work this one last time since when I go again in 2 weeks, the feet get to go in the stirrups! yee-haw. and please, no children at that appointment. i don't need their brains scarred for life. Anyway, it was the quickest appointment I've had the whole pregnancy. Was it bringing the kids or just a slow day in the office? hmmm...Dr. Webster loved seeing the kids. She gave them a fruit snack which they thought was pretty fun. Anna talked to just about every nurse in the office. She was wearing a green and pink polka dot dress. She would walk up and say "I'm Anna and this is my dress." and hold up the dress so they could see it. Dr. W was wearing a dress as well and had a conversation with Anna about their dresses. It was a hoot. With the kids there, I didn't catch the heart rate this time. Brady was really excited to hear the heartbeat. He thought it was the coolest thing ever. Anna kept looking around the room in fright with a horrible look on her face when she heard the sound. Then, she started to cry saying "what's that?" Brady tried to calm her down and tell her it was just the baby in mommy's tummy, but she didn't get it. Overall, it was fun and glad we made it out alive.

We got home a little early and this is by far our hottest day this year. It was up to at least 90 today with a breeze, not a blow-you-down kind of wind we've been having. All 3 of us put on our swim suits and played in the Pablo sprinkler. They loved it. We had popsicles and enjoyed the sun. Once they were getting bored, we came inside for bathtime and jammies. I kept thinking how hot I was. Here lately I'm hot all.the.time. I kept thinking it was just me. Finally about 7:15 I go over to the thermostat and see that it says 83. Chris checks it all out and it's not cooling! What? It can't be so. Well, it is my friend. The windows open and fans on high and it's still not below 80. This isn't fair to a pregnant girl. Needless to say I thoroughly enjoyed a COLD shower tonight! The AC people will be here tomorrow to get this all straightened out for us. Thank goodness.

Easter 2009

We had a nice Easter this year. Don't even ask for a picture of my kids dressed up. Me being the Mother of the Year that I am, didn't snap one picture of B & A all dressed up. I don't know what I was thinking. I got hot in church and my fingers started to swell. Once that happens to me, I feel yucky for a good while. It seems to take forever to go down. In the midst of it all, no picture. But the looked really cute! Here are a few from their eventful day.

The tradition died this year

Yes. that's right folks. If you notice on my blog to the right I have the first 2 years of Anna's life with the Easter bunny pic. So, this past Good Friday I loaded them up and talked all about meeting the Easter bunny for our picture. I even showed them the two pictures from the past and talked about them. My goal was to get one every year...since I haven't done it with Santa, but I have with the Easter bunny? Brady wanted to wear the same shirt and outfit in last years pic, but I had to explain how that just didn't fit anymore. Anna just kept happily saying "bunny!" I get them to the mall and they would not get out of the stroller. So, I strolled into the Children's Place and found some good deals. Then, tried one more time and no chance. I am really big on picking my battles. Yes, it is something that I would love to have, but I wasn't willing to MAKE my kids do it that day. It was a battle I didn't want to pick. I just couldn't bare the thought of me wrestling them onto his knees with my belly in the way and probably getting all sweaty and out of breath from doing it. This year, we just happily waved good bye to the Easter bunny and played with cousin Jack at the play land. Then finished it off with a lunch at Chili's. You can bet next year, I will try for a picture with all 3 of my little darlings!

Pregnancy update

I was so caught up in SB updates, I forgot about my doctor's appointment. I went last week and everything was great! My doctor said that if she could make up the perfect score for the glucose test and other tests done around this time in pregnancy that my scores would be it! ROCK ON! I measured just right and the heartbeat was in the 140s...i can't remember. this is why i need to blog the day of the appointment or I will forget. I have been having my way with some heartburn like never before. If you know me at all, you know that I can eat anything chocolate at any given time of day. That is just me--without pregnant hormones. During pregnancy with B&A, I felt the same for chocolate and ate it with pleasure...loved some Brownie Batter Blizzards from the one and only Texas Stop Sign, yes that is Dairy Queen. Anyway, this time around I am craving chocolate but it makes me pay! It has been giving me the WORST heartburn! Spicy foods don't even do it to me. If I can fight the urge, I'll save myself the pain and the inches on the hips. However it's much easier said than done. And for those inches on the hips, yes I am still doing my water aerobics. Now I really look forward to the water holding the baby for me for an hour so I get some relief, plus a great workout. Will I look like Heidi Klum after birth, I'm guessing NO since she doesn't have my body type. HA!

Tomorrow I will be 31 weeks! 9 more weeks to go.

PS...our kids did much better than we thought on the TAKS. we were pleasantly surprised! :) I do have a few in my room that didn't make it, but I'm doing my best to get them there come April 29th.
